The Cégep de Saint-Laurent has reached a major milestone in the development of its College Centre for Technology Transfer (CCTT), the Cteau, with the official inauguration of a new cutting-edge building dedicated entirely to research, testing and innovation in water technologies.

Located in Laval’s Renaud district, the new 14,925-sq.-ft. facility houses an analytical chemistry lab, a testing laboratory, an experimental hall, a pilot and prototype assembly workshop, and modern offices designed to meet the sector’s growing needs. This environment will allow the Cteau to accelerate the validation and deployment of innovative water-management technologies while strengthening its role as a key catalyst in Québec’s water-technology ecosystem.

The official inauguration took place on October 14 in the presence of Céline Haytayan, MNA for Laval-des-Rapides and Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Economy, Innovation and Energy, and Stéphane Boyer, Mayor of Laval.

“It is with great pleasure that I announce the opening of a new water-management research centre in Laval! The Cteau will be a valuable ally in transforming our infrastructure and better protecting our homes and neighbourhoods.”
Stéphane Boyer, Mayor of Laval

“This milestone comes at the right time. The water sector’s needs are urgent, and to continue our mission as an innovation accelerator, we needed a multifunctional space that meets the high standards of excellence expected by our municipal, industrial and government partners. This new facility also offers our team an inspiring work environment.”
Édith Laflamme, Executive Director, Cteau

Valued at $8 million, the project gives the Cteau the capacity to fully deliver on its mission. Bringing together under one roof its design and fabrication workshop, test hall and laboratories, the centre now provides an integrated environment for developing and scaling up advanced water-management technologies. Private companies as well as public and parapublic organizations will benefit directly from these facilities to optimize their water-treatment solutions.

“The acquisition of this building reflects the strong reputation of Cégep de Saint-Laurent in the field of water technologies. It will expand the Cteau’s research capacity, with positive impacts both on the economy and on our academic programs. We are proud of this achievement and grateful to the ministries of Higher Education and Economy, Innovation and Energy for their support.”
Mathieu Cormier, Director General, Cégep de Saint-Laurent
