More than 15,000 attend sixth edition of Festival MOSAÏQUE Laval
More than 15,000 people attended the sixth edition of Festival MOSAÏQUE Laval at Centropolis from August 13 to 15, according to La Centrale des artistes.
The three-day event featured 25 free performances across three stages at Centropolis’ Place Centrale, bringing together more than 130 artists from a range of musical and artistic backgrounds.
The festival, which focuses on cultural diversity and artistic discovery, also included workshops, activities, local vendors and a professional component for members of the cultural sector.
Nearly 50 Laval artists featured during opening night
Among the highlights of the 2026 edition was the return of Laval ou rien!, an evening dedicated to local talent.
According to organizers, nearly 50 Laval artists participated in the program, with performances ranging from contemporary and percussion-based dance to hip-hop and Latin music.
The evening was part of the festival’s broader effort to provide a platform for artists from Laval while presenting different cultural and artistic influences to the public.
More than 130 artists take part
Throughout the three evenings, audiences were able to see artists from Quebec, Canada and abroad.
Haitian artist Durkheim made what organizers described as his first Canadian festival appearance, drawing a large audience that included a notable presence from Laval’s Haitian community.
The lineup also included Adam El Mouna and Cameroonian slam artist Lydol, while Juno Award-winning artist Morgan Toney brought his combination of Mi’kmaq and Celtic musical traditions to the festival.
Rafael & Energia Dominicana, Montreal funk and soul group The Brooks and FERVO, a collaborative project created specifically for MOSAÏQUE, closed the outdoor programming on each of the three nights.
Other artists announced as part of this year’s festival included Naomi, La Bronze, Kelly Bado, Irdens Exantus and several others.
Activities extended beyond the stages
Music was only one component of the festival.
More than 20 artists, artisans, entrepreneurs and local merchants participated in complementary activities throughout Centropolis, according to La Centrale des artistes.
Visitors could take part in artistic workshops, listen to storytelling, encounter dance performances among the crowd, play tabletop games and browse locally made products.
The activities were intended to make the festival accessible to different age groups while extending programming beyond scheduled performances.
Cultural professionals gather in Laval
Festival MOSAÏQUE also hosted the second edition of its professional component in collaboration with Culture Laval.
The event brought together professionals from the cultural and artistic sectors to discuss the role of festivals and cultural events in building connections, supporting inclusion, contributing to collective well-being and increasing the visibility of communities.
Organizers say the professional gathering is intended to become an annual meeting for cultural and artistic stakeholders from Laval and elsewhere in Quebec.
Festival MOSAÏQUE Laval is organized by La Centrale des artistes. Its sixth edition took place at Centropolis from August 13 to 15.
