“Mon boss, c’est le meilleur!” returns to highlight supportive employers in Laval

The fourth edition of the “Mon boss, c’est le meilleur!” contest has been launched in Laval, aiming to recognize employers who actively support students in balancing work and education.
The initiative is led by Regroupement lavallois pour la réussite éducative in collaboration with the Carrefour jeunesse-emploi de Laval, according to information released April 8, 2026.
A context of growing financial pressure on students
Organizers say the contest comes at a time when more young people are working part-time during their studies to cover living expenses, a trend linked in part to the rising cost of living.
While student employment can provide valuable experience, both organizations emphasize that poor work-study balance can negatively affect academic success and, in some cases, contribute to school dropout.
Recognizing employers who make a difference
The contest invites students working part-time in Laval to nominate an employer, supervisor or manager who supports their academic success through concrete actions such as:
- flexible scheduling
- understanding of academic demands
- a supportive work environment
According to Raïssa Épalè, executive director of the RLPRE, the goal is to highlight employers who help students succeed both at school and at work.
Christiane Pichette, executive director of the CJEL, added that supporting work-study balance benefits employers as well by contributing to the development of a more qualified workforce over time.
Call for nominations underway
Students have until May 5, 2026 to submit nominations. Finalists will be selected, and participating students may win prizes of up to $100, along with additional participation rewards.
The contest is part of broader efforts by both organizations to promote perseverance in education and to encourage collaboration between employers, schools and community stakeholders in supporting youth success.
