FC Supra du Québec suffered a dramatic 1-0 defeat to defending champions Atlético Ottawa on Sunday afternoon in the club’s first-ever home match, played before a crowd of 4,965 spectators at CEPSUM Stadium in Montréal.

Despite controlling long stretches of play and generating several scoring chances, the Quebec side conceded in stoppage time when Tyr Walker scored the winning goal for Ottawa.

Strong start for Supra

Played in chilly 4°C conditions on April 19, FC Supra opened the match with clear attacking intent and spent much of the game applying pressure. The expansion club appeared comfortable in possession and repeatedly pushed Ottawa into defensive situations.

The occasion marked the first-ever Canadian Premier League regular season match hosted in Quebec.

Injury scare involving Alessandro Biello

A key moment came when FC Supra midfielder Alessandro Biello and Atlético Ottawa midfielder Manny Aparicio collided while attempting to head the ball.

Both players remained on the ground for more than two minutes, leading to concern in the stands about a possible concussion.

Biello was substituted and did not return. Aparicio remained in the match wearing a head bandage.

Following the game, FC Supra head coach Nick Razzaghi indicated that Biello was expected to be alright.

Although Ottawa had less possession, head coach Diego Mejía praised his team’s ability to stay dangerous in transition and capitalize on opportunities.

That patience paid off deep into stoppage time when Walker found the decisive goal, silencing much of the home crowd.

Supra players remain optimistic

FC Supra captain David Choinière said after the match that his side created enough chances to earn a result.

“We put them in difficulty several times, we created a lot of chances. Incredible sold-out crowd. It’s part of the sport. This is only our second professional match, but we will learn, and this team has the potential to become a very good CPL team.”

Coach Razzaghi also praised attackers Loïc Kwemi and Sean Rea, while noting that his team forced Ottawa into a more direct style of play.

Historic but frustrating afternoon

The defeat drops FC Supra to one win and one loss in its first two league matches after opening the season with a 3-2 road victory over Pacific FC.

While the result was disappointing, the crowd size and atmosphere offered a strong first statement for professional men’s soccer in Quebec.
