Quebec Liberals rally in Laval as campaign enters final two weeks

Several hundred Quebec Liberal Party supporters gathered at the Sheraton Laval on September 21 as leader Charles Milliard and candidates from across the province entered the final two weeks of the provincial election campaign.
The evening brought together Liberal candidates, volunteers and supporters, with approximately 500 people attending the rally, according to information gathered by Média Laval.
Caroline De Guire, the party’s candidate in Laval-des-Rapides, served as master of ceremonies. She highlighted Laval’s population and economic growth while arguing that provincial investment has not kept pace with the city’s needs.
Laval candidates highlight local priorities
Several of the party’s six Laval candidates spoke during the event.
Louis Ialenti, candidate in Vimont-Auteuil, discussed health care and the modernization of the Cité-de-la-Santé hospital.
Cécile Tremblay, candidate in Sainte-Rose, spoke about access to health services, support for seniors and the need for additional schools as Laval’s population grows.
Marie Claude Fournier, candidate in Fabre, focused on housing and infrastructure, while Chomedey candidate Madeleine Féquière discussed Quebec’s economic relationships with Canada and the United States, drawing on her previous experience as Canada’s consul general in Chicago.
The positions presented during the event reflected commitments and assessments made by the Liberal candidates during the campaign.
Milliard addresses supporters
Milliard was welcomed by supporters before being joined on stage by dozens of Liberal candidates.
In his speech, he presented housing, health care, education, public finances and economic development as priorities for his party.
He reiterated Liberal campaign proposals including building 100,000 housing units annually, expanding telehealth services, increasing home care investment and holding general consultations on education during the first 100 days of a Liberal government.
Milliard also criticized the records and proposals of the Coalition avenir Québec, Parti Québécois, Québec solidaire and Conservative Party of Quebec. These remarks represented the Liberal leader’s partisan assessment of his political opponents.
The rally came as the provincial campaign entered its final stretch. Quebecers will vote on October 5, with advance polling scheduled for September 27 and 28, according to Élections Québec.
