More than 8,000 people took part in the Halloween des commerçants du Vieux Sainte-Rose on October 25, according to the Laval Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The event, organized by the CCILaval in collaboration with the Association des citoyens et amis du Vieux Sainte-Rose, transformed Sainte-Rose Boulevard into a family-oriented Halloween gathering while also highlighting local businesses.

Local businesses at the centre of the event

The Halloween event is part of PROX-Commerce, a CCILaval initiative focused on supporting and promoting neighbourhood businesses.

According to the Chamber, the large turnout gave merchants an opportunity to welcome new visitors, present their products and services and build relationships with residents.

Malak El Maleky, advisor in communities and business strategies at the CCILaval, said the event was designed to combine a community celebration with economic development.

“The attendance of more than 8,000 visitors allows our merchants to make themselves known, create connections and develop their clientele,” she said in a statement.

Rally encouraged visitors to discover businesses

A merchant rally invited families to walk along Sainte-Rose Boulevard and answer questions connected to participating businesses.

The activity was intended to encourage visitors to enter stores, meet employees and discover the commercial offer in the neighbourhood.

Businesses located outside the main event perimeter, including Plomberie Aquadiva, Saveur Colombienne and Bistro Rossignol, were also included in the rally.

Participants could also enter for a chance to win a pair of Laval Rocket season tickets.

Several partners contributed

A number of businesses and organizations supported the event.

Confiserie Mondoux and Lindt Mirabel contributed candy and chocolate, while Ferme Marineau provided pumpkins and seasonal decorations.

Courrier SLR supported the distribution of material to participating merchants, and Agence Carbure printed promotional posters.

The Laval Rocket also took part through the presence of its mascot and by providing the rally prize.

The CCILaval also highlighted the participation of merchants who decorated their storefronts and distributed treats to visitors.

Collaboration with local residents

The Association des citoyens et amis du Vieux Sainte-Rose worked with the Chamber on the event.

According to the CCILaval, the Chamber handled coordination with merchants and partners, promotional communications, the preparation and distribution of candy kits and the merchant rally.

Municipal representative Flavia Alexandra Novac also attended the event and met with residents and business owners.

The CCILaval says the Halloween event is intended to support both neighbourhood animation and the visibility of local businesses.
