Quebec election 2026: candidates running across Laval
With election day approaching on October 5, the provincial campaign is entering its final stretch. Laval voters will choose representatives in six ridings: Chomedey, Fabre, Laval-des-Rapides, Mille-Îles, Sainte-Rose and Vimont-Auteuil.
The nomination period closed on September 17. In total, 41 candidates are officially running across Laval’s six ridings.
Here is a riding-by-riding look at the candidates from the five parties represented across all six Laval ridings, along with the independent incumbent in Chomedey.
Chomedey
Madeleine Féquière, Quebec Liberal Party: Féquière most recently served as Canada’s consul general in Chicago, representing Canadian interests in the American Midwest. Her professional background also includes administration, risk management, international trade and governance.
Cattiouceca Ambroise, Coalition avenir Québec: Ambroise works in politics and has professional experience as a political attaché. She is representing the Coalition avenir Québec in Chomedey in her first provincial election campaign. Her candidacy is confirmed by Élections Québec.
Marie-Jeanne Rivest, Parti Québécois: Rivest is a pharmacist at the CHUM and has worked for approximately six years in different institutions within Quebec’s health network. Her professional experience has therefore been primarily centred on health care and hospital practice.
Leon Der Stepanian, Conservative Party of Quebec: Der Stepanian is a self-employed real estate and mortgage broker. He has accumulated more than 40 years of experience in the real estate sector.
Geru Schneider, Québec solidaire: Schneider has been active in union, political and public affairs circles. He also works in project management in the technology sector.
Sona Lakhoyan Olivier, Independent: Lakhoyan Olivier is the outgoing MNA for Chomedey and was first elected in 2022. Before entering provincial politics, she served as a school commissioner in Laval and was involved with the Fondation Cité de la Santé.
Fabre
Marie Claude Fournier, Quebec Liberal Party: Fournier has more than 20 years of experience in management, entrepreneurship and law. She has also held a senior management role with the Association de la construction du Québec Laval-Laurentides.
Lucie Létourneau, Coalition avenir Québec: Létourneau is a manager specializing in strategy and business development. Her academic background includes an MBA, a PMP certification and graduate studies in educational technologies.
Catherine Dansereau-Redhead, Parti Québécois: Dansereau-Redhead has worked as an elementary special education teacher at the Centre de services scolaire de Laval for approximately 12 years. She is returning to the ballot after also running in Fabre in the 2022 provincial election.
Stéphane Turmel, Conservative Party of Quebec: Turmel is an engineer working in the high-technology sector and has lived in Sainte-Dorothée for more than 25 years. He previously represented the Conservative Party of Quebec in Fabre during the 2022 election.
Josée Chevalier, Québec solidaire: Chevalier has taught at Collège Montmorency for more than 25 years. Her background also includes union representation and involvement in collective bargaining.
Laval-des-Rapides
Caroline De Guire, Quebec Liberal Party: An economist by training, De Guire has more than 25 years of experience in economic development, entrepreneurship and innovation. She previously served as president and CEO of the Laval Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Vincent Bolduc, Coalition avenir Québec: Bolduc has lived in Laval-des-Rapides for about 20 years and has worked as a political adviser. He has also pursued graduate studies in applied ethics and previously ran for the CAQ in the riding.
Fatima Aboubakr, Parti Québécois: Aboubakr began her career as a qualified early-childhood educator. She later moved into management positions within several childcare services.
Ronny Niro, Conservative Party of Quebec: Niro works in cybersecurity and information technology. His professional experience also includes digital transformation, project management and process improvement.
Sabrina Di Matteo, Québec solidaire: Di Matteo is pursuing doctoral studies in religious studies at Université Laval. Her background also includes theology, education, communications and work in the community sector.
Mille-Îles
Virginie Dufour, Quebec Liberal Party: Dufour is the outgoing MNA for Mille-Îles and was first elected to the National Assembly in 2022. Before entering provincial politics, she served on Laval City Council from 2013 to 2021 and completed an MBA in information technology management.
Sonia Amédomé, Coalition avenir Québec: Amédomé has worked in health-care risk management and quality of care for approximately eight years. She has also founded and co-founded community organizations alongside her professional work.
Mathieu Trottier-Kavanagh, Parti Québécois: Trottier-Kavanagh is a cultural entrepreneur, producer, director, author and speaker. He has worked for more than 20 years in film, audiovisual production, events and the performing arts.
Nare Stepanyan, Conservative Party of Quebec: Stepanyan is a humanities student at Collège Montmorency. She notably participated in the 2026 Forum étudiant, a simulation of Quebec’s parliamentary institutions.
Zachary Robert, Québec solidaire: Robert is a Saint-François resident who works as a teacher and in the health network while also pursuing research studies. The 2026 campaign is his second provincial election as a candidate.
Sainte-Rose
Cécile Tremblay, Quebec Liberal Party: Tremblay is a microbiologist-infectious disease specialist and clinician-researcher at the CHUM, where she has worked for more than 20 years. She became particularly known to the wider public through her media interventions during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Christopher Skeete, Coalition avenir Québec: Skeete is the outgoing MNA for Sainte-Rose and was first elected in 2018. Before the election was called, he served as minister of International Relations and La Francophonie and minister responsible for Relations with English-speaking Quebecers and the Fight Against Racism.
Judith Cardin, Parti Québécois: Cardin is trained in political science and public management. She has approximately 15 years of experience within Quebec and Canadian public administrations.
Alexandre Arrata, Conservative Party of Quebec: Arrata has professional experience in cybersecurity, information technology and real estate. His training includes specialized studies in cybersecurity at Polytechnique Montréal.
Karine Cliche, Québec solidaire: Cliche is a college professor who has lived in Sainte-Rose for more than 20 years. She has also been involved for several years in social and environmental initiatives in Laval.
Vimont-Auteuil
Louis Ialenti, Quebec Liberal Party: Ialenti is a lawyer, entrepreneur and university lecturer. He has more than 15 years of business experience in sectors including retail, hospitality and manufacturing.
Valérie Schmaltz, Coalition avenir Québec: Schmaltz is the outgoing MNA for Vimont-Auteuil and was first elected in 2022. She comes from a journalism and communications background and has held parliamentary responsibilities related to social services and other public-policy issues.
Amin Ouazragh-Marchand, Parti Québécois: Ouazragh-Marchand holds a bachelor’s degree in law from Université de Montréal. The Laval resident has also been involved in political activism and public affairs.
Mackenley Raphael, Conservative Party of Quebec: Raphael studied sociology and political science. Since 2022, he has taught history and Culture and Citizenship in Quebec in Laval schools.
Stella Bourgon-Germain, Québec solidaire: Bourgon-Germain has lived in Vimont for approximately 14 years and previously coordinated the VizAxion neighbourhood roundtable. Her experience also includes work involving vulnerable people and families.
Election day is Monday, October 5. Élections Québec confirms that the nomination period has closed and publishes the official candidate list for every riding.
