Virginie Dufour Leads Third Annual School Supply Drive for École secondaire Leblanc

For the third consecutive year, Mille-Îles MNA Virginie Dufour has organized on september 9th a school supply drive in collaboration with local businesses and community organizations to support students at École secondaire Leblanc.

The items collected were delivered to La Fourmi Verte, a solidarity shop run by students in the school’s regular and adapted programs. Supervised by school secretary Véronique Forgues, the store offers low-cost supplies to students and also provides free materials to those in the welcome class.

To make the initiative possible, local partners set up collection points across eastern Laval. Among the contributors this year were Orange Theory Fitness, Nettoyeur Éco Impeccable, and Paroisse Saint-Noël Chabanel.

Dufour highlighted the importance of such initiatives in easing the financial burden of families: “Back-to-school is a stressful time for many Laval families facing the rising cost of living. It is important to me to help reduce inequalities and support student success. That’s why I’ve organized this supply drive for three years with La Fourmi Verte, alongside the distribution of 125 new backpacks filled with supplies for children from low-income families in collaboration with Marraine Étoilée.”

The initiative builds on Dufour’s other back-to-school projects, including the recent distribution of 125 new backpacks in Mille-Îles.
