Respiratory virus vaccination campaign begins October 20 in Laval

Eligible Laval residents can now book appointments for free vaccines against several respiratory viruses ahead of the winter season.
Appointments opened on October 13 through Clic Santé, while vaccination against influenza, COVID-19 and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) will begin October 20 at participating pharmacies and local service points in Laval.
Eligibility varies by vaccine
According to Santé Québec Laval, influenza and COVID-19 vaccination is primarily recommended this year for people at greater risk of complications.
Eligible groups include adults aged 65 and over, pregnant people, immunocompromised individuals and people living with certain chronic conditions.
Vaccination is also available to people who live with or care for someone considered at risk. For influenza, the program also includes people in close contact with infants under six months old.
The RSV vaccine is offered free of charge to adults aged 75 and over, as well as eligible newborns and infants.
“Even when they are well controlled, certain chronic diseases, such as asthma, diabetes and severe obesity, can increase the risk of complications related to respiratory viruses,” said Kahina Slimani, director of access to primary care services.
She encouraged eligible residents to get vaccinated before the winter season.
