Saint-Bruno city councillor David De Cotis took part in this year’s McHappy Day by volunteering at the McDonald’s restaurant in Vimont, located in the Saint-Bruno district, according to a press release issued May 7, 2026.

He was joined by Barbara Barrasso, commissioner with the Sir Wilfrid Laurier School Board, as part of the annual fundraising initiative supporting families with sick children.

According to McDonald’s Canada, McHappy Day 2026 took place on May 6 and supports local children’s charities, including Ronald McDonald House programs across Canada. Funds help provide accommodations, meals and support services so families can remain close to their child during medical care.

In the press release, De Cotis described McHappy Day as a community gesture of compassion and solidarity, saying that donations and purchases help support families facing difficult moments.

Barrasso also emphasized the importance of community involvement, stating that the event shows what can be accomplished when residents come together to help families in need.

Throughout the day, residents, volunteers and restaurant staff participated in the local initiative, according to the release.

Ronald McDonald House Charities says McHappy Day helps support families with sick children across Canada during their child’s medical journey.
