New teen space opens in Auteuil

Teenagers in Auteuil now have a space designed specifically for them at the Centre communautaire d’Auteuil.

Espace ADOS was officially inaugurated on September 12 after several years of planning, consultation and development. The project is led by LSB Laval – Loisirs Sainte-Béatrice.

More than 250 teenagers were consulted on the layout, atmosphere and activities planned for the new space.

“We didn’t want to create a space for young people without young people,” said Gina Mori, executive director of Loisirs Sainte-Béatrice.

A space designed with teenagers

Young people were surveyed throughout the neighbourhood and invited to share what they wanted from the project.

They were consulted on activities, the layout and even the colours of the room.

A youth committee, ADOSConnexion, was also created to give teenagers a more direct role in developing the space.

One committee member described the goal as creating “a place of our own” where young people can meet friends, take part in activities, discover new interests and work on projects.

Several partners supported the project

The City of Laval provided financial support through one of its social development programs.

Caisse Desjardins du Centre et de l’Est de Laval also joined the initiative in 2026 as a founding partner, while Relais familial d’Auteuil will collaborate on activities and programming.

Auteuil city councillor Sylvain Yelle attended the inauguration on behalf of Mayor Stéphane Boyer.

“There are more and more teenagers who want to socialize, who need to socialize,” Yelle said. “It is extremely important to be able to give them a place that reflects who they are.”

Opening later this month

Espace ADOS is expected to begin welcoming teenagers on a regular basis by the end of September.

Loisirs Sainte-Béatrice says the goal is to create a place where young people can socialize, develop projects and become more involved in their community.
