Station Momo keeps downtown Laval active through September
Summer programming at Station culturelle Momo is continuing in downtown Laval, with free concerts, family activities, dance, games and artistic installations scheduled through September 13.
Now in its fourth edition, the seasonal cultural space has transformed Claude-Gagné Street and the area in front of Place Bell into a pedestrian-oriented gathering place where residents can attend programmed events or simply use the outdoor installations.
Located near Montmorency metro station, the site will remain active for the final weeks of its summer season.
Free programming continues
Several of Momo’s recurring series are continuing through September, offering different types of cultural programming throughout the week.
Jeudis Co-Motion focuses on francophone music and live entertainment, while MOSAÏQUE à Momo brings a range of musical and cultural performances to the site.
Families can take part in Momo en famille, while L’Entre-deux artistique features multidisciplinary artistic programming.
Dance is also part of the remaining schedule through Les Bals de Momo. The events combine introductions to Latin dance styles with opportunities for participants to dance freely outdoors.
Among the artists still scheduled to appear before the end of the fourth edition are Marie Céleste, comedian Korine Côté and Quebec band Bon Enfant, according to information provided by the organizers.
More than a performance venue
Visitors do not need to attend a scheduled performance to use the site.
The temporary installation, designed by Aire commune, includes seating, hammocks, picnic tables, basketball hoops, a play area, bleachers and spaces intended for relaxation and socializing.
The pedestrianized section of Claude-Gagné Street also incorporates greenery and contemporary design elements intended to create a public gathering space in the heart of Laval’s downtown.
The site can therefore be used throughout the season for activities ranging from attending concerts and workshops to meeting friends, playing games or spending time outdoors.
Fourth edition runs until September 13
Station Momo is part of a broader effort to animate the area surrounding Place Bell during the summer and increase access to cultural activities in downtown Laval.
The fourth edition began on July 30 and was initially announced with more than 35 free events spread across approximately six weeks.
With the season entering its final stretch, activities will continue on Claude-Gagné Street and the Place Bell forecourt until September 13.
