A new and significant milestone has been reached for the socio-professional inclusion of people with disabilities in Laval. On June 3, the Table régionale intégration vie active et travail de Laval (TRIVAT) officially launched its initiative, “Here We Value Talents, Not Limitations!”, during a unifying event held at the Régent-Martimbeau Community Centre. Bringing together representatives from the business community, community organizations, institutional partners, and elected officials, the event highlighted companies that have made inclusion a true strength within their organizations.

Putting Talents First

Through this initiative, TRIVAT aims to transform perceptions surrounding the employment of people with disabilities by emphasizing their skills, potential, and contribution to the labour market.

Three main objectives guide this initiative.

First, there is recognition, which involves acknowledging the efforts and best practices of inclusive businesses.

Next comes awareness, with the goal of increasing understanding of the importance of socio-professional inclusion.

Finally, there is employability, which seeks to promote the integration and retention of people with disabilities in the workforce.

“Here We Value Talents, Not Limitations!” is therefore intended as a tool for recognition, mobilization, and awareness, helping to shine a spotlight on organizations that actively contribute to building a more equitable and accessible labour market.

A Recognition Program for Committed Businesses

At the heart of the initiative is a new recognition program for companies that distinguish themselves through inclusive practices.

Businesses selected by an evaluation committee will receive an official badge in one of the program’s three categories: hiring, internships, or partnerships. They will also be able to display a digital logo demonstrating their commitment to inclusion and will be listed on TRIVAT’s new website.

This recognition aims not only to highlight efforts already made but also to inspire other employers to adopt practices that foster diversity and inclusion in their workplaces.

The First Recipients Honoured

The launch also provided an opportunity to present the first awards to six Laval-based companies whose concrete commitment helps open more doors for people with disabilities.

Significant Government Support

Present at the event, Céline Haytayan, Member of the National Assembly for Laval-des-Rapides and Regional Government Assistant for Laval, emphasized the importance of investments made to support the region’s socioeconomic development.

“The Government of Quebec is investing more than $9,217,488 in Laval to support socioeconomic development projects through Component 2 of the Regions and Rurality Fund. In doing so, meaningful initiatives that respond to the needs of the population are being supported in our region, thereby improving quality of life. The Table régionale intégration vie active et travail de Laval (TRIVAT), is a concrete example of this,” she stated.

A More Inclusive Vision for the Future

For several years, TRIVAT has mobilized partners from various sectors to facilitate the transition to active life and the professional integration of people with disabilities. With this new initiative, the organization is taking another step forward by creating a regional movement that recognizes committed employers and encourages the adoption of inclusive practices.

Beyond the distinctions awarded, “Here We Value Talents, Not Limitations!” carries the strong message that skills, motivation, and potential must be at the heart of hiring decisions. By highlighting businesses that are leading the way, Laval is affirming its commitment to building a more inclusive community where every person can contribute fully to society and the labour market.

Because when talents are recognized at their true value, everyone benefits.
