Québec solidaire unveils full slate of candidates in Laval ahead of provincial election

As political parties continue preparing for Quebec’s next provincial election, Québec solidaire has officially completed its team of candidates in Laval’s six electoral districts.
The announcement was made during a nomination assembly held on May 24 at Tiers-Lieu in Laval, where the party introduced the individuals who will represent Québec solidaire across the city. According to the party, the candidates are:
- Geru Schneider (Chomedey)
- Josée Chevalier (Fabre)
- Sabrina Di Matteo (Laval-des-Rapides)
- Zachary Robert (Mille-Îles)
- Karine Cliche (Sainte-Rose)
- Stella Bourgon-Germain (Vimont-Auteuil)
According to Québec solidaire Laval, the team will focus its campaign on issues including housing affordability, the rising cost of living, access to public services, public transit, social justice and environmental challenges.
Returning candidates among the slate
Several candidates are already familiar faces within the party.
In Mille-Îles, Zachary Robert returns after representing Québec solidaire during the 2022 provincial election. According to the party, he intends to campaign on the protection of public services, climate action and economic fairness.
Karine Cliche, the party’s candidate in Sainte-Rose, also ran in the district in 2022. A resident of Sainte-Rose for more than two decades and a professor at Collège Montmorency, she said she plans to continue advocating for environmental protection, local agriculture and social causes.
In Fabre, Josée Chevalier, an English professor at Collège Montmorency and union activist, was presented as the party’s candidate pending final approval by Québec solidaire’s national authorities.
Support from provincial representatives
The event was attended by Québec solidaire MNAs Haroun Bouazzi and Andrés Fontecilla, who came to support the Laval candidates and highlight the party’s efforts to strengthen its presence in the region.
According to Québec solidaire Laval, the six candidates share a common platform focused on strengthening public services, reducing inequalities, improving regional mobility and addressing climate change.
The announcement comes as several political parties continue confirming candidates across Laval ahead of the next provincial election campaign.
