FC Supra du Québec announced May 13 the signing of Montreal-born defender Sasha Deslandes to a standard player contract guaranteed through the 2026 season, with a club option for 2027.

According to FC Supra, the 19-year-old defender joins the Canadian Premier League side after playing with CS Saint-Laurent in Ligue1 Québec and the Université de Montréal Carabins.

The club described Deslandes as a versatile defender developed through Quebec’s local soccer pathway, bringing positional awareness and tactical flexibility to the backline.

A player developed in Quebec

Sporting director Mateo Cabanettes stated in the team’s release that the signing reflects FC Supra’s objective of creating opportunities for local players.

“Sasha reflects the type of local talent we want to continue giving opportunities to at FC Supra,” Cabanettes said.

Before joining the Carabins, Deslandes was named the 2024 RSEQ Student-Athlete of the Year with the Vanier Cheetahs. He also earned a place on the 2025 RSEQ All-Rookie Team during his university career.

Continuing to build the roster

The signing comes as FC Supra continues its inaugural season in the Canadian Premier League, becoming the league’s first Quebec-based club.

The organization has repeatedly emphasized its focus on Quebec talent and regional player development since launching in September 2025.

An updated roster released by the club following the announcement included players such as Sean Rea, David Choinière, Loïc Kwemi, Diyaeddine Abzi and Alessandro Biello.

FC Supra currently competes in the CPL, Canada’s top domestic men’s professional soccer league.
