CANOPÉE launches summer nature program across Laval’s urban forests

Credit CANOPÉE

As summer temperatures settle in across Laval, residents will once again have the opportunity to explore the city’s urban forests through a series of outdoor activities organized by CANOPÉE.

The non-profit organization has launched on June 19 its 2026 summer programming, offering guided walks, educational workshops and wellness activities designed to encourage people to reconnect with nature.

Activities throughout the summer

The program includes guided tours highlighting the natural features of Laval’s woodlands, visits to a “forest air conditioner” installation explaining the role trees play in mitigating the effects of climate change, and several Shinrin Yoku, or forest bathing, sessions inspired by the Japanese wellness practice.

Participants will also be able to attend AVATARIUM, an immersive dance performance presented in the Bois de l’Équerre, along with nature journaling workshops, introductory creative observation activities, outdoor yoga sessions and guided mindfulness walks led by the Emilis duo.

Several Laval woodlands included

Activities will take place in several wooded areas across Laval, including Bois de l’Équerre, Bois de l’Orée-des-Bois, Bois Papineau and Bois de la Source.

According to CANOPÉE, the program aims to provide opportunities for residents to cool off during hot weather, observe local wildlife, discover the city’s urban forests or simply spend time outdoors in a peaceful environment.

Most activities are offered free of charge or at a low cost, although registration is required.

The complete schedule and registration information are available on CANOPÉE’s website.
