The 14th edition of the Laval Firefighters Run reached a new milestone on May 31, as more than 12,100 participants took part in the event and helped raise over $82,000 in donations for the Fondation des pompiers du Québec.
Organized by firefighters from the Service de sécurité incendie de Laval in collaboration with the City of Laval and the foundation, the annual event promotes physical activity while supporting programs and services for burn victims across Quebec.
Record participation
According to organizers, this year marked the highest participation level in the event’s history, with more than 12,100 runners of all ages taking part in races ranging from 1 kilometre to the full marathon.
All events finished near the outdoor grounds of Collège Montmorency, where participants and spectators gathered for post-race celebrations.
Top marathon and half-marathon performances
In the marathon, Édouard Foster claimed first place in the men’s category with a time of 2:34:51.
Among women, Corinne Lienhard crossed the finish line first in 3:03:22.
In the half-marathon, Benjamin Raymond won the men’s division with a time of 1:14:15, while Roxanne Leblanc captured the women’s title in 1:23:16.
Marathon and half-marathon winners received a commemorative gold firefighter helmet, a symbol of the determination, discipline and perseverance required to complete the challenge.
Eight marathons in eight days
One of the event’s most remarkable achievements came from ultra-marathon runner Manuel Cabral, who completed eight marathons in eight consecutive days between May 24 and May 31.
Cabral, an ambassador for the event, invited fellow runners to join him throughout the week while encouraging donations to the foundation. He concluded the challenge by running a final marathon during the Laval Firefighters Run itself, posting the fifth-fastest marathon time of the day.
Organizers noted that in 2025, Cabral completed a half-marathon every day during the event’s virtual component.
Supporting burn victims across Quebec
Since its creation in 2012, the Laval Firefighters Run has combined sport, community engagement and fundraising.
According to organizers, all proceeds from the event are donated to the Fondation des pompiers du Québec. The funds help support specialized medical equipment, clinical research, direct assistance programs for burn victims and their families, and an adapted summer camp for children who have suffered severe burns.
The event has become one of Laval’s largest annual running gatherings and continues to grow in both participation and fundraising impact.
