CANOPÉE launches call for projects to animate Laval’s urban forests this spring

The organization CANOPÉE has launched a call for projects aimed at bringing new activities to Laval’s urban forests this spring.
Announced on March 18, the initiative invites local organizations to propose outdoor activities that will transform wooded areas into spaces for connection, creativity and discovery.
A call for inclusive and creative activities
According to the organization, proposed activities can be cultural, artistic, educational, recreational or спортив in nature, as long as they are held outdoors and accessible to the general public.
CANOPÉE said it is particularly interested in projects that highlight Indigenous knowledge, improve accessibility for people with specific needs and reflect the cultural diversity of Laval’s population.
“In opening this call for projects, we want to multiply the ways people connect with nature and create experiences that bring together the diverse communities we serve,” said Karine Duquette, environmental education coordinator at CANOPÉE, in a statement.
Free programming in Laval’s wooded areas
Selected activities will be offered free of charge and will take place in one of the wooded areas managed by CANOPÉE. Each activity is expected to last between one and three hours.
Organizers indicated that all proposals must meet criteria related to accessibility, inclusion and environmentally responsible practices.
Support for local organizations
Organizations selected through the process will receive support that includes a $300 honorarium, logistical assistance, promotional visibility and registration management.
A special “Coup de cœur” recognition will also be awarded to one standout project.
Key dates for submissions
Project submissions are open from March 18 to March 27, 2026, with selected initiatives to be announced on April 2. The full spring programming is expected to be unveiled on April 8.
