Louis Ialenti to run for Quebec Liberals in Vimont-Auteuil

The Quebec Liberal Party confirmed on August 6 that entrepreneur, lawyer and university instructor Louis Ialenti will represent the party in Vimont-Auteuil in the October 5 provincial election.
The announcement was made in Laval alongside Quebec Liberal leader Charles Milliard and party supporters.
Ialenti becomes the fourth Liberal candidate announced in Laval, joining Virginie Dufour in Mille-Îles, Caroline De Guire in Laval-des-Rapides and Cécile Tremblay in Sainte-Rose.
From law to entrepreneurship
According to information provided by the Quebec Liberal Party, Ialenti studied business administration and law in Australia before beginning his career as a lawyer practising criminal and commercial law.
He also has more than 15 years of entrepreneurial experience in the retail, hospitality and manufacturing sectors. The party says he has founded and managed several businesses during his career.
Ialenti currently teaches business-government relations at the university level and serves on the board of directors of the Bishop’s University Foundation.
According to the Liberal Party’s announcement, he speaks French, English, Italian and Spanish.
“Meeting the people of Vimont-Auteuil”
Ialenti said he now wants to bring his professional experience into provincial politics.
“I look forward to campaigning alongside Charles Milliard, in whom I have full confidence as leader of the Quebec Liberal Party, to present our platform and meet the people of Vimont-Auteuil, whom I hope to represent in the National Assembly,” Ialenti said in a statement.
In the statement released by the party, Ialenti described his vision for Quebec as one that is “prosperous, inclusive and ambitious,” with an emphasis on innovation, civic engagement and economic opportunities.
These positions reflect those expressed by Ialenti and the Quebec Liberal Party as part of the announcement of his candidacy.
Milliard highlights candidate’s business experience
Milliard highlighted Ialenti’s private-sector and entrepreneurial background in presenting the new candidate.
“The voters of Vimont-Auteuil deserve a candidate who will be present, attentive and able to make a difference in addressing their concerns,” Milliard said.
The Liberal leader also argued that Ialenti’s 15 years of entrepreneurial experience have given him an understanding of the challenges faced by Quebec small and medium-sized businesses in their dealings with the provincial government.
Quebec Liberals gradually complete Laval team
With the provincial election scheduled for October 5, political parties are continuing to announce candidates across Laval’s six ridings.
The Quebec Liberal Party has so far confirmed four candidates in the city: Dufour in Mille-Îles, De Guire in Laval-des-Rapides, Tremblay in Sainte-Rose and Ialenti in Vimont-Auteuil.
As of the August 6 announcement, the party had yet to announce candidates in Chomedey and Fabre.
The composition of the parties’ Laval teams is expected to become clearer as additional candidates are confirmed ahead of the provincial election campaign.
