Les Contours: Storytelling and Comedy Meet on Stage in Laval

Credit Serge Yvan Bourque

A new series of cabaret-style shows is taking shape at the Théâtre du Bout de l’Île (10585 boul. Lévesque Est, Saint-François). Over the course of 90 minutes (including intermission), audiences will be treated to an unexpected artistic blend where storytelling meets stand-up comedy.

The evenings will be hosted by charismatic Laval monologist Serge Yvan Bourque, who will guide spectators through this unique spoken-word experience.

Two Worlds, One Stage

Each performance features two parts:

  • Part I – The Storyteller: An artist invites the audience into a world of vivid stories designed to entertain while sparking imagination.
  • Part II – The Comedian: The humorist goes beyond punchlines, building sincere and memorable moments where laughter becomes storytelling.

Fall 2025 Program (8 p.m.)

  • November 1: François Lavallée (storytelling) + Josiane Aubuchon (comedy)
  • December 6: Dominique Deslongchamps (storytelling) + Alex Bisaillon (comedy)

Les Contours” promises stories that touch, jokes that hit home, and an atmosphere that bridges two artistic worlds an experience where the spoken word draws and then transcends its own boundaries.

About Serge Yvan Bourque

A Laval-based monologist trained in psychosociology and at the École nationale de l’humour, Serge Yvan Bourque has carved out a niche as a “psycomic,” weaving introspection with humour. Inspired by human stories and everyday relationships, he engages audiences with humility and depth that cross generations.

He has animated popular evenings such as Je ris donc je suis in Montréal and the monthly cabaret Microbrasserire in eastern Québec. In summer 2025, he hosted both the opening and closing nights of the Jeux de la francophonie canadienne at Place Bell. Since 2021, he has also taught at the École nationale de l’humour, leading inclusive workshops for teens, seniors, newcomers and people living with disabilities.

Recipient of two creation grants from the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec, Bourque continues to innovate with his seventh solo show, Porte ouverte, developed during a creative residency in Saint-Élie-de-Caxton under the mentorship of Fred Pellerin and the Regroupement du conte au Québec.
