The City of Laval is offering a wide range of free activities throughout the holiday season, inviting families to celebrate without financial pressure. The program includes cultural, recreational, sports and educational activities designed for all ages.

“With the holiday season approaching, we wanted to offer a diverse and free program to all Laval families. It is a great opportunity for everyone to have fun, stay active and discover our municipal facilities,” said Stéphane Boyer, Mayor of Laval.

Activities Across the City

Centre de la nature
From December 12 to 14, the Centre de la nature hosted the Laval Christmas Market, featuring more than 50 local artisans and free entertainment in a festive atmosphere. Additional activities will continue throughout the holiday period.

Sports and physical activities
Residents are invited to stay active with free indoor and outdoor activities offered until the end of the holiday break. Municipal pools, the Complexe aquatique de Laval, the Enclav at Place Bell, the Bleu Blanc Bouge rink and local arenas will operate on special schedules for free skating and swimming. Weather permitting, some outdoor rinks may open gradually. A free public swim, presented by Desjardins, will also be offered on December 22 at the Complexe aquatique de Laval.

Community centres
Several community centres will offer a varied program for all ages, including Kapla workshops, circus and percussion activities, scientific experiments such as electromagnetism and chemical reactions, as well as recreational and sports activities like basketball, futsal, pickleball, badminton, bubble soccer and archery tag.

Cultural programming

Libraries
Laval libraries invite residents to stock up on books, films and board games for the holidays. Loan periods have been extended, and digital resources, including a new platform dedicated to manga, are also available.

Salle Alfred-Pellan
Families can take part in L’Atelier d’Alfred – Louise Robert: LR à l’œil et au cœur on Saturday, December 27, from 11 a.m. to noon. The activity encourages creative exploration and a slower approach to art appreciation. Visitors can also enjoy free access to exhibitions dedicated to Louise Robert and Alfred Pellan.

For those seeking a quieter experience, Dimanche au ralenti will take place on December 28, from noon to 5 p.m., offering a relaxed space for drawing, writing, reading art magazines and enjoying tea in the presence of an art mediator.

Some activities require registration. The full holiday program is available on the City of Laval website.
