Mothers in mourning: rebirth after the unimaginable
Maman BB & Co., an organization dedicated to breaking maternal isolation and dismantling maternity-related stereotypes, is launching its Beyond Words conference series. This unique program aims to give voice to maternal realities that are often overlooked by addressing deep, rarely discussed subjects. The first conference in this series will focus on a particularly difficult yet essential theme: the mourning of a child.
On Sunday, March 30, 2025, Maman BB & Co. will provide a necessary space for discussion and reflection on this rarely addressed reality. Three mothers, each having experienced tragic loss, will share their stories of resilience, love, and reconstruction after their mourning. The speakers include Ronide Casséus, who lost her adult son in a shooting, Marjo Dion-Janssens, who lost her 4-year-old son to drowning, and Cynthia Ductan, who lost her baby at birth, at 39 weeks of pregnancy. Each speaker will provide a moving testimony, illustrating the strength of motherhood even in the face of the unimaginable.
This conference is not only for grieving parents but for anyone wishing to better understand the mourning process and learn how to support others in their grief. Maman BB & Co. emphasizes that understanding grief and breaking the silence surrounding it is essential to offering authentic and compassionate support to those going through this difficult ordeal. It is a moving but necessary moment for society, so that grieving mothers are no longer alone and so that we all learn to better support and accompany those experiencing the loss of a child.
