Charity night tied to Rocket game raises over $16,000 for local foundations

A fundraising event held alongside a Laval Rocket game on March 20 raised more than $16,000 for two organizations, according to a press release issued by Saint-Bruno councillor David De Cotis on March 22.
The proceeds will benefit the Sir Wilfrid Laurier Foundation and the Fondation des Canadiens pour l’enfance, both of which support initiatives for youth.
Community turnout highlighted
The event brought together community members, partners and volunteers in what organizers described as an energetic atmosphere.
According to the information shared in the press release, $4,400 of the total amount raised will be allocated specifically to the Sir Wilfrid Laurier Foundation to support its programs.
De Cotis, who also serves as a board member of the foundation, emphasized the importance of community engagement in achieving such results.
“When a community comes together, the results always exceed expectations,” he stated, according to the press release.
Evening ends with on-ice victory
The fundraising evening coincided with a 4-1 win by the Laval Rocket, a result that also confirmed the team’s qualification for the playoffs.
De Cotis described the outcome as reflective of the event itself, noting that the evening concluded “on a winning note across the board,” according to the same press release.
Ongoing involvement
The Sir Wilfrid Laurier Foundation participated in the initiative for a second consecutive year, reaffirming its involvement in projects aimed at supporting youth in the community, De Cotis added in the release.
No additional details were provided regarding the total number of attendees or the breakdown of funds beyond the amounts disclosed.
