Pop culture enthusiasts will once again gather in Laval as the third edition of Laval Comiccon takes place on April 25 and 26 at L’Enclav at Place Bell.

Tickets for the event went on sale March 9 at 10 a.m., according to organizers.

The convention will transform the venue into a celebration of science fiction, horror, anime, gaming and comic books, with programming designed for fans of all ages.

A collectors’ paradise for pop culture fans

Organizers say the event will feature more than 100 retailers and artists across a 25,000-square-foot exhibition space.

Visitors will be able to browse and purchase a wide range of collectibles including comics, manga, toys, films, clothing and original artwork. The event will also offer panels and workshops where fans can learn more about the creative process behind comics, cosplay and other aspects of pop culture.

Cosplay, music and fan experiences

The weekend program includes several live activities and performances.

The Orchestre à vents de musiques de films (OVMF) will perform a concert featuring music from well-known franchises such as Star Wars, Harry Potter, Zelda and Pokémon.

A costume contest will also take place, showcasing handmade cosplay creations inspired by characters from video games, films, anime and comic books.

Throughout the convention, cosplay groups will roam the exhibition floor, including members of the 501st Legion, known for their screen-accurate representations of characters such as Darth Vader.

Organizers encourage attendees to come dressed as their favourite characters, although costumes are not required.

A growing pop culture industry

According to industry data cited by the event, the North American comic book market was valued at approximately USD 1.36 billion in 2024 and is projected to reach USD 2.39 billion by 2030.

The growth is attributed in part to the rising popularity of graphic novels, digital comics and superhero franchises produced by major studios such as Marvel Entertainment and DC Comics.

Convention culture, merchandise sales and the emergence of independent creators are also contributing to the expansion of the sector.

A convention launched in 2019

Launched in 2019 by the team behind Montreal Comiccon, Laval Comiccon has grown into a regional gathering dedicated to science fiction, horror, anime, gaming and comic book culture.

In addition to exhibitors and artists, the event typically features themed displays, film and television props, and opportunities for fans to meet comic creators, obtain autographs and commission artwork.

Admission for the 2026 edition starts at $10, according to organizers.
