Laval-based professional club FC Supra du Québec has added experienced defender Diyaeddine Abzi to its roster as preparations continue for its inaugural season in the Canadian Premier League.

The signing was announced in a press release issued February 13, 2026. According to the club, Abzi has signed a contract guaranteed through the 2026 season, with a club option for 2027. His arrival comes during week three of FC Supra’s training camp, presented by WestJet, as the coaching staff evaluates players ahead of final roster decisions.

Experience added to the back line

Abzi, 27, brings Canadian Premier League experience to the squad. According to the club, he developed with FS Salaberry and AS Blainville before making his professional debut in 2019 with Inter Toronto, then known as York9 FC. He went on to make 76 appearances for the club, becoming its all-time appearance leader at the time of his departure.

The defender later transferred to Pau FC in France’s Ligue 2 in 2022 and was subsequently loaned to CD Leganés during the 2023-2024 season, where he contributed as the club earned promotion to La Liga. Abzi has also represented Canada’s U-23 national team, competing at the 2020 Concacaf Men’s Olympic Qualifying Championship.

In the press release, Sporting Director Mateo Cabanettes described Abzi as an important addition to the squad, citing his CPL experience and leadership qualities. Head Coach Nick Razzaghi stated that the team is progressing through preseason preparations and that upcoming matches will help finalize roster decisions.

Training camp results and upcoming fixtures

According to FC Supra, the club recorded a win over Scrosoppi FC of the Ontario Premier League and a draw against Toronto FC II of MLS NEXT Pro during recent training camp matches.

The squad is scheduled to travel to New Jersey this weekend for additional preseason games against MLS NEXT Pro sides New York Red Bulls II and Connecticut United FC, as well as USL League One side New York Cosmos. The club indicated that these matches will serve as final evaluation opportunities before the CPL preseason begins in March.
