Laval Names New Executive Committee Following Municipal Election
Mayor Stéphane Boyer and the 22 elected members of Laval’s municipal council held a special meeting on November 10 to appoint the councillors who will sit on the Executive Committee for the new mandate.
This was the council’s first meeting since the municipal election and the official swearing-in ceremony held on November 9 at Collège Letendre. The ceremony marked the formal start of the new four-year term and authorized members to begin exercising their duties.
During the announcement, Mayor Boyer congratulated all elected officials and emphasized the importance of the work ahead.
According to him, Laval faces “numerous challenges,” and the new Executive Committee will play a central role in major files, including infrastructure upgrades, public safety, and improving municipal efficiency.
Executive Committee for 2025–2029
The committee, which will meet for the first time on Wednesday, November 12 at 9 a.m., includes the mayor and four councillors elected under the Mouvement lavallois banner:
- Stéphane Boyer, Mayor of Laval and President of the Executive Committee
- Ray Khalil, Sainte-Dorothée Vice-President, responsible for urban development and land-use planning
- Christine Poirier, Pont-Viau Responsible for local services
- Nicholas Borne, Laval-les-Îles Responsible for infrastructure
- Flavia Alexandra Novac, Sainte-Rose Responsible for corporate partnerships and public safety
The first regular council meeting of the new term will take place on Tuesday, November 18 at 6:30 p.m., chaired by Cecilia Macedo, councillor for Marigot, who was reappointed as Speaker of Council.
