ROPPHL Congratulates Mayor Boyer and Calls for Concrete Action Toward an Inclusive Laval

The Regroupement des organismes de promotion des personnes handicapées de Laval (ROPPHL) congratulates Mayor Stéphane Boyer on his re-election and the Mouvement lavallois for earning the renewed confidence of Laval’s citizens.
The organization acknowledges the progress made in recent years in universal accessibility and social housing, while emphasizing the need to build on these achievements. The Mouvement lavallois has expressed its willingness to continue improving accessibility, including offering training sessions on universal accessibility for elected officials and enhancing urban design to improve safety and inclusion for all residents.
The party also committed to meeting with the ROPPHL early in the new mandate to discuss these priorities an offer the organization warmly welcomes.
“We look forward to this meeting and hope that the commitments made by the Mouvement lavallois will quickly translate into concrete action for residents living with functional limitations,”
said Josée Massicotte, Interim Executive Director of the ROPPHL.
The organization reaffirmed its readiness to collaborate with the municipal administration by offering its AXECIBLE training program, designed not only for elected officials but for all municipal employees.
“Training should not be limited to those directly responsible for accessibility issues,” added Ms. Massicotte. “It must reach the entire administration to ensure that every municipal decision considers the needs of people living with disabilities.”
