FC Supra du Québec has finalized its coaching staff ahead of its inaugural season by appointing former Belgian international defender Laurent Ciman as assistant coach and Florian Tertre as goalkeeper coach.

The club announced the additions on March 9 as preparations continue for its first campaign in the Canadian Premier League, which begins in April.

Veteran defender joins the bench

Ciman, 40, built a long professional playing career in Belgium before joining CF Montréal in 2015, when the team was still known as the Montreal Impact.

He quickly became one of Major League Soccer’s top defenders, earning MLS Defender of the Year honours in 2015 and being named an MLS All-Star in both 2015 and 2016.

Internationally, Ciman made 20 appearances for the Belgium national football team between 2010 and 2018.

After retiring from professional play, he transitioned into coaching and served as assistant coach with CF Montréal from 2021 to 2024, where he contributed to defensive organization, match preparation and player development.

Ciman has lived in Quebec for more than a decade and said his connection to Montreal played an important role in his decision to join FC Supra.

“This project is incredibly exciting. I truly believe there is more than enough talent in Quebec to build a highly competitive side,” he said in a statement.

Goalkeeper coach with strong local experience

Florian Tertre will serve as the club’s goalkeeper coach.

Originally from France, Tertre developed as a semi-professional goalkeeper before moving to Quebec, where he became involved in coaching and player development. He has worked at several levels of the province’s soccer system, including U SPORTS, Ligue1 Québec and provincial selection programs.

Most recently, he served as technical director at CS Boucherville, overseeing player development and technical programming.

Coaching staff set for inaugural season

FC Supra head coach Nick Razzaghi said the additions bring valuable experience to the club’s technical staff.

The team is continuing its preseason training camp and will play exhibition matches in the coming weeks against teams from Ligue1 Québec.

FC Supra is scheduled to open its home calendar on April 19 at CEPSUM Stadium at the Université de Montréal, where it will face reigning CPL champions Atlético Ottawa.

Launched in September 2025, FC Supra du Québec is the first Quebec-based club to join the Canadian Premier League and will begin competing in the league’s eighth season in 2026.
