School is Loud Launches New Youth-Led Radio Show 450 Decibels

The Laval nonprofit School is Loud! is launching its new weekly radio show, 450db (Decibels), broadcast live every Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. on CISM 89.3 FM starting September 23.
Hosted by Bénédicte Elibert, the program will welcome teachers, entrepreneurs, artists, community leaders, and elected officials to highlight Laval’s educational landscape and showcase youth initiatives across Quebec. The goal, according to the organization, is to inspire, equip the next generation, and encourage civic and creative engagement.
The initiative is made possible thanks to the support of Caisse Desjardins de l’Ouest de Laval and Carrefour jeunesse-emploi de Laval. Partnerships with Gosselin Photo Video and Top Deck Hero will provide technical expertise and community engagement opportunities to strengthen the project.
450 Decibels is part of School is Loud!’s mission to democratize media access for students across Quebec through school journalism, podcasting, and radio training. Founder Kostas Eleftheriou notes that with nearly half of Canadians aged 18–29 tuning in to campus and community radio, initiatives like this play an essential role in diversifying the media landscape.
Broadcast from Laval, the show reaches nearly 85,000 weekly listeners across Montreal, Laval, and surrounding regions, with more than 1.2 million web listens annually. Programming will include workshops, debates, emerging music, local portraits, and youth journalism segments.
