Laval is preparing to launch a bold new cultural initiative that blends contemporary art, environmental thinking and community engagement. From August 19 to September 20, 2025, the project EMPREINTES will offer a series of public events rooted in the principles of permaculture, leading toward a professional exhibition scheduled for summer 2026.
Rethinking Our Relationship with the Living World
EMPREINTES aims to reconnect citizens with their environment by embracing the three core ethics of permaculture, Earth care, people care, and fair sharing. Through workshops, performances and public discussions, the project positions art as a catalyst for new stories and collective action in the face of global social and climate challenges.
By involving participants directly in creative processes, organizers hope to foster a renewed sense of agency in the community and inspire fresh narratives about Laval’s evolving territory.
Oasis Cartier: Imagining Tomorrow from the Heart of the City
Most events will unfold at Oasis Cartier, a rapidly changing urban site opposite Cartier metro station created in partnership with Village Urbain. Characterized by its social diversity and transformation, the space serves as a real-world laboratory for exploring themes of land sharing and community life.
2025 Program Highlights
All events are free, open to the public, and include on-site bar service. On select Saturdays, UNIO Marché Laval will also be present offering local products.
