Laval Inaugurates New All-Season Pavilion at Berge aux Quatre-Vents

The City of Laval has officially unveiled a brand-new four-season welcome pavilion at Berge aux Quatre-Vents, marking according to them a major step forward in enhancing public access to the Mille Îles River while preserving the surrounding natural environment.
The project was made possible through the Green and Blue Infrastructure Program (Trame verte et bleue), with $4,010,732 in joint financial support from the Government of Quebec and the Montreal Metropolitan Community (CMM).
New Access, new vision
The new facility includes a multi-purpose room, changing area, restrooms, an outdoor shower, a gear lending station for outdoor activities, and a cyclist rest stop. Built on a design-build basis, the project was completed on time and on budget.
“The population can now enjoy the Mille Îles River even more, summer and winter alike. This new facility enhances one of Laval’s rich natural environments, improves quality of life for residents, and adds to the region’s attractiveness,”
— Christopher Skeete, Minister responsible for Laval and Minister for the Fight Against Racism
“This project will benefit residents and visitors across Greater Montreal by offering year-round access to a natural space designed with sustainability in mind,”
— Valérie Plante, Mayor of Montreal and President of the CMM
“Laval is an island, and our riverbanks are central to our identity. By making them more accessible and integrating high-quality, eco-conscious infrastructure, we’re providing residents with peaceful havens close to home,”
— Stéphane Boyer, Mayor of Laval
Summer Programming and Activities
Laval residents are encouraged to take advantage of the new space immediately whether for walking, picnicking, or simply relaxing in nature. Swimming will be permitted at the supervised beach area when conditions allow.
This summer’s activities will include:
- Outdoor Zumba and yoga sessions
- Live performances as part of the Zones musicales series
- Outdoor cinema screenings
- Theatre performances in the open air
The fun will continue into winter, with features such as an ice-skating rink, a sledding hill, and groomed trails for Nordic walking.
Reconnecting with Laval’s Natural Heritage
This initiative reflects the city’s broader commitment to reconnecting residents with nature, highlighting its fluvial heritage, and preserving local biodiversity. The site is easily accessible by bike and invites visitors to explore a vibrant green space just steps from their neighborhood.
