If you are thinking about ditching your personal car or reducing your individual trips, now is the perfect time to switch to car sharing. Thanks to a municipal grant, Laval residents can now get up to $500 in financial assistance by subscribing to a car sharing service such as Communauto®. This initiative is part of the Horizon 2035 Climate Plan, which aims to promote sustainable travel and reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the region. The program is made possible thanks to the support of the Government of Quebec and its 2030 Green Economy Plan.
An Accessible and Advantageous Subsidy
Laval residents can submit up to two reimbursement requests, each for a maximum of $250, to cover:
- subscription fees for a car-sharing service
- usage fees, depending on the duration of reservations or kilometers traveled.
In total, each citizen can receive up to $500 in financial support.
However, certain fees are not eligible, such as the $500 membership fee required for certain Communauto® packages, reservation fees and penalties.
Are You Eligible?
To benefit from it, you must meet the following criteria:
- Be a Laval citizen and live in Laval
- Be subscribed to a car-sharing service between January 1, 2024 and December 31, 2025
- Submit your request no later than January 31, 2026
4 Simple Steps to Apply
- Log in to your file on the City of Laval website (or create an account if you do not have one already)
- Go to the “Subventions et programmes” section.
- Select the “Subvention pour favoriser l’adhésion à un service d’autopartage et son utilisation” program.
- Complete the form and attach the following documents:
- Two proofs of residence (your driver’s license, tax bill, electricity bill or telephone bill)
- Proof of the date of joining a car-sharing service
- Your usage invoices
