Liberal candidate in Vimy, Annie Koutrakis, gathers supporters at her fundraiser

On April 9, 2025, the Liberal Association of Vimy hosted a fundraiser for the campaign of Annie Koutrakis at Luganos, a family-run restaurant on Saint Martin Ouest near the Montmorency terminal. Laval Weekly, who was present at the event, reported that the atmosphere was festive and that approximately 50 people attended the gathering.
The choice of Luganos was significant for Annie Koutrakis, who explained that she spent part of her youth at the restaurant and that her family has longstanding ties with its management. During the event, she addressed the attendees, emphasizing her commitment to continuing a community-focused approach if she is re-elected. Her remarks highlighted her determination to remain connected with local citizens and to advocate for their interests.
The fundraiser featured a campaign video that showcased highlights from her work and her volunteers, followed by a brief speech from her campaign vice president. Later, Koutrakis delivered an address in which she once again praised the leadership of her party leader, Mark Carney. She contrasted his steady guidance with the uncertainties surrounding former U.S. President Donald Trump, who on April 9 had announced a 90-day postponement of reciprocal tariff measures. According to Koutrakis, only Mark Carney can effectively counter these challenges. Surrounded by a large campaign team, she reaffirmed her commitment to strong, principled leadership.
Representatives from various community groups were in attendance, reflecting the diverse support base for the campaign. The event was part of a series of fundraising initiatives as candidates across the region work to mobilize financial support ahead of the April 28, 2025 election.
