How Mothers Create Geniuses

International best-selling author Marc Fisher, joined by psychiatrist Dr. Sylvain Louis Lafontaine and early childhood education student Julia Poissant, is set to publish How Mothers Create Geniuses (Comment les mères fabriquent des génies) this September. The book outlines seven rules that, according to the authors, have helped ordinary mothers and sometimes fathers nurture extraordinary talents.

Building on Fisher’s reputation as the author of The Millionaire (translated into more than 30 languages), the new book draws from the biographies and insights of figures such as Thomas Edison, Maria Callas, Charlie Chaplin, Richard Branson, Céline Dion, Tiger Woods, Mozart, and Einstein, alongside lesser-known examples.

The authors highlight seven guiding principles, including:

  • The “Pygmalion effect” and its transformative potential.
  • The concept of success by proxy.
  • A refined variation of the well-known 10,000-hour rule.
  • The value of Socratic questioning, reading, and travel.

Dr. Lafontaine contributes his research on the “mirror mother” phenomenon, while Poissant brings the perspective of a new generation of educators. Fisher provides the narrative framework, rooted in decades of writing on motivation and personal development.

The book will be available in Canada this September in a 6×9 format.
